Getting the app

OpenQuill is in development. The public beta opens on TestFlight soon, and this page will link to it.

Common questions

Where are my notes stored?

On your device. If you keep your library in iCloud Drive, Apple syncs it between your devices. OpenQuill has no servers that store your notes.

Do I need an AI subscription or key?

No. Built-in AI features use Apple's on-device models where your device supports them. To use Claude or another provider, add your own API key in the app's settings. Those requests go straight from your device to the provider.

How do I connect Claude?

The Claude connector arrives in a later beta. When it's ready, you'll add https://openquill.jondevs.com/mcp as a connector in Claude, then choose which notebooks Claude can use.

Is OpenQuill open source?

Yes, under the Apache License 2.0. The repository is private while we build; the source will be available at launch.

How do I report a bug?

Email us with your device model, the system version, what you did and what happened. A screenshot or screen recording helps.
